Rages

RAGES, or Ragæ, a City of Media, standing upon the Mountains of Ecbatana. Tobit having deposited the Sum of ten Talents with Gabael, a Citizen of Rages, or rather having lent it him, according to the Latin Vulgate, sent his Son Tobias to fetch it. But he being obliged to stay some Time at Ecbatana,1 to celebrate his Marriage with Sara the Daughter of Raguel; he desired the Angel Raphael, whom he took only for a Man, to go to Gabael, and bring him the ten Talents; which Request Raphael perform’d. Rages was a little Day’s Journey from Ecbatana, and situate on the Southern Part of Media, in the Mountains that divide this Country from Parthia.

Footnotes
