Ragau

RAGAU, a large Plain wherein Nebuchadnezzar King of Nineveh, overcame Arphaxad King of the Medes, in the Country Judith i. 5, 6.of Arioch King of the Elymeans. These Plains of Ragau are probably those that lie about Rages in Media, of which we shall presently speak. This Nebuchadnezzar that conquer’d Arphaxad, in our Opinion, is the Saosduchim King of Assyria, who made War with Phraortes King of the Medes, in the Year of the World 3347, before Christ 653, before the vulgar Era 657. See the Preface to the Book of Judith.
