Nabonadius

NABONADIUS, or Nabonides, called Labynetus by Herodotus, Nabannidoch by Abydenus, and Belshazzar by Daniel. He succeeded Laborosoarchod, who is probably the same as Evilmerodach, King of Babylon, in the Year of the World 3449, before Christ 551, before the Vulgar Æra 555. He reigned seventeen Years according to Berosus, and according to the Canon of Ptolemy. ‘Twas under him that Babylon was taken by Cyrus, in the Year of the World 3466, before Christ 534, and before the Vulgar Æra 538. The Articles BELSHAZZAR and NERIGLISSOR may be consulted, in which we have stated the different Opinions of the Antients about the Successors of Nebuchadnezzar.
