Volume II · M

Mearah

MEARAH, or Maara, of the Sidoniansb. Some understand it of a City, others of a Cave, or a Meadow, in the Countrey of the Sidonians. But it is better to understand it, with Junius, of the River Magoras, which falls into the Mediterranean Sea, between Sidon and Berythus1. The Hebrew Word Mearah, or Maara, may very easily be pronounced Magora.
