HOBAH, Hobal, Shoba, or Shobal. It is said in the book of Genesis, that Abraham pursued Chedorlaomer, and the other confederated Kings, as far as Hobah to the left, or to the north of Damascus. We are of opinion, that this is the city of Abila, in the valley lying between Libanus and Antilibanus.
