Hobab

HOBAB, the son of Jethro, and brother -in-law to Moses. Moses being upon the point of departing from mount Sinai to go to the conquest of the promised Land, said Numb. x. 29.to Hobab, we are journeying unto the place, of which the Lord said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good. Hobab answered, That he could not go, and would return into his own country. But Moses insisted, and entreated him so earnestly, that he at last yielded to his request. Some think the Kenites, who dwelt southward of Judah, were the descendants 1 Sam. xv. 6. Gen. xiv. 15.of Hobab the Midianite.
