Translators’ note. Our Author says, Le mauvais Ange sorti de la gueule du Dragon; the Evil Angel, or Evil Spirit, coming out of the Dragon’s mouth. But in the original Greek we read πνεύματα τρία ἀκάθαρτα, three unclean Spirits; and accordingly, in the Vulgate, Tres immundos Spiritus. And why F. Calmet should chuse to translate it rather one Evil Spirit, or Angel, than three, is not easy to con- jecture. ↩
