Arad

Numb. xxi. 1.ARAD, Arada, Arath, Adraa, or Adra, a city lying to the South of the tribe of Judah and the land of Canaan, in Arabia Petræa.Numb. xxxiii. The Israelites having advanced towards the land of Canaan, the King of Arad opposed their passage, defeated them, and took a good booty from them. But they devoted his country as a thing accursed, and destroyed all the Cities thereof as soon as they became masters of the land of Canaan. Arad was rebuilt, and Eusebius places it in the neighbourhood of Kades, at four miles distance from Malathis, and twenty from Hebron. The Israelites in their journey through the wilderness having departed from Sepher came to Arad, and from thence went to Makkelath, which I take to be the same as Molathis.
