Anamim

ANAMIM, second Son of Mizraim. He peopled the Mareotis, if we may credit the Paraphrast Jonathan, the Son of Uzziel, or the Pentapolis of Cyrene, according to the Paraphrast of Jerusalem. Bochart is of opinion that these Anamims are the People that dwell in the parts adjacent to the Temple of Jupiter Ammon, and in the Nasamonitis. We believe the Amanians and Garamantes to be descended from Anamim. The Hebrew Ger or Gar signifies a Passenger or Traveller. The name of Gar-amantes may be derived from Ger-amanim. Their Capital is called Garamania in Solinus.
