XV. Alexander, a Jew of Ephesus, who addressed himself to the Rabble that had mutinied against St. Paul, and endeavoured to appease them. But when he appeared in the Assembly, and was known to be a Jew, the Ephesians began to cry more loudly, Great is the Diana of the Ephesians. It is not known whether this Alexander were for or against S. Paul, whether he were a Jew, or a Jew converted to Christianity.
