Post haec quaeritur, quis imposuerit illud nomen?

Et videtur, quod Joseph.

1. Matth. I, 20: Joseph, fili David, noli timere accipere Mariam conjugem tuam. Et infra, v. 21: Et vocabis nomen ejus Jesum. Ergo Joseph imposuit.

QUESTION 216. Who imposed that name Jesus?

After these things it is asked who imposed that name.

And it seems that Joseph did.

1. Matthew 1:20: Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife. And below, verse 21: And you shall call his name Jesus. Therefore Joseph imposed it.

2. Likewise, Luke 2:21: His name was called Jesus, which was called by the Angel before he was conceived in the womb. Therefore the Angel imposed it.
