Vanity (3)

Psal. cxliv. 4. Deut. xxxii. 21.3. VANITY is taken for mere Nothing, or Emptiness. As, for example, Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher, vanity of vanities, all is vanity: I have seen nothing but Vanity and Vexation of Spirit, in every thing that is done in this World, or under the Sun. Every Man living is but altogether vanity: Universa vanitas, omnis homo vivens. Man is like to vanity, his days are as a shadow that passeth away: Homo vanitati similis factus est; dies ejus sicut umbra prætereunt.
