Thaddeus (1)

  1. THADDEUS. This is the Surname of Jude the Apostle, of whom we have already spoke, under the Article Jude. deus, without any Addition, to avoid the Name Judas, and for fear of not distinguishing him from Judas Iscariot, who for his Treason was justly had in Detestation. To St. Thaddeus the Apostle has sometimes been imputed1 what only agrees with St. Thaddeus the Disciple of Jesus Christ, of whom we shall now speak.
