Volume II · S

Susanna (II)

II. SUSANNA, was an holy Woman who attended upon Jesus Christ with some other Women, as Mary Magdalen, and Joanna the Wife of Chuza, who administer’d to him of their Substance, and supply’d Necessaries not only to Jesus Christ, Luke viii. 2, 3.but to his Disciples also. This was commonly practised by pious Women among the Jews,1 and no one took Offence at it. We know nothing more of this Susanna; for all that has been said of her Arrival at Marseilles, with Lazarus, Martha, and Mary, is wholly Apocryphal, to say no more.
