1 Macc. xiv. 28.SARAMEL, or Asamarel. We think it to be the Place Millo, mention’d 2 Sam. v. 9. Asbar-millo signifies the Court of Millo. Others, as Vatablus and Tirinus, have imagin’d, that Saramel was put for Jerusalem. Serrarius translates this Word by The Prince of the Lord, or, The Prince of the People of the Lord; and he explains it by the High-Priest Simon, who then govern’d.
