Saltus

SALTUS. This Word signifies a Forest. We read in the Books of Samuel and the 2 Sam. xxi. 19. 1 Chron. xx. 5. Vulgat.Chronicles, of the Name Adeodatus filius Saltûs Polymitarius Beth-lehemites; but the Hebrew is, Elhanan the Son of Jaare- Oregim a Beth-lehemite1. This Elhanan is probably the same mention’d in 2 Sam. xxiii. 24. Elhanan the Son of Dodo of Bethlehem2. This Elhanan was one of the valiant Men of David’s Army.
