Remembrance

REMEMBRANCE, or Memory. God requires, that we should keep his Commandments in Remembrance. He tells1 Ex. xvii. 14.Moses, that he will utterly put out the Remembrance of Amalek from under Heaven. That is, he will destroy him in such a Manner, that no farther mention shall be made of him, as a People, in the World. He says Psa. xxxiv. 16.elsewhere, that the Face of the Lord is against them that do Evil, to cut off the Remembrance of them from the Earth. Psal. ix. 6.And thou hast destroyed Cities, their Memorial is perished with them. On the contrary, God has promised to the Righteous and Just, that their Memory shall be blessed, and shall never perish.
