Ramah

Josh. xviii. 25.RAMAH, or Aramah; this Word signifies an Eminence, from whence it is that there are so many Places in Palestine, that go by the Name of Rama, Ramath, Ramatha, Ramoth, Ramathaim, Romola, and Ramathan. Sometimes the same Place shall be called at once Rama, Ramatha, Ramoth, and Ramathaim, all these Words only signifying an Eminence or high Situation. Sometimes Rama or Ramoth is joined to another Name, to determine the Place of such City or Eminence. Lastly, Ramah is sometimes put only for a high Place, and signifies neither City nor Village. These following are the chief Places that are mentioned in Scripture by the Name Ramah.
