Le Brun, Voiage de Syrie, p. 259.III. RAMA, or Ramatha. Phocas says, in his Travels, that Ramah, or Armath, where the Great Samuel was born, was to be seen at about six Miles from Jerusalem, towards the West. Le Brun says, that going from Ramah in order to come to Jerusalem, he pass’d through Cobeb, Benop, Carithleneb, Soud, Souba, and Samuel; which is a Church upon a Hill, where, they say, heretofore was the City of Samuel. But this City of Samuel was to the North, and not to the West, from Jerusalem, in the Mountains of Ephraim, and not in those of Judah. See the Article of ARIMATHEA.
