Pyramids

PYRAMIDS. The Pyramids of Egypt are well known, by the Descriptions that have frequently been given of them, both by Antients and Moderns. ‘Tis thought they were intended for Tombs for the antient Kings of Egypt. The Mahometans pretend, D’Herbel. Bibl. Orien. p. 311. Ezek. xxxii. 18.that they were built by the Preadamites. They shall make their Compliments at her Arrival. There is Ashur with his People; there is Elam; there Meshech and Tubal, they have their Abode there; they lie down in their Tombs, having their Swords under their Heads. You shall crumble to dust in the “ midst of these uncircumcised People: There is Edom, his Kings and his Captains. There are the Princes of the North, and all the Men of Violence. Pharaoh has seen them, and has comforted himself for the Multitude of his People, who are slain by the Edge of the Sword, &c.
