PRINUS, a Sort of green Oak, otherwise call’d Holm-Oak. ‘Tis call’d green Oak, because it preserves its Leaves in the Winter. These Leaves are like to those of Lawrel, but whitish, rough without, and with Teeth that seem to be as Thorns. One of the Elders that accused Susanna, said he had seen her with a young Man under a Susan. 59. Πείσαι σε μέσον.Holm-Oak, sub prino; and Daniel making an Allusion to the Word Prinus, answer’d him; The Angel of God waiteth with the Sword to cut thee in two, that he may destroy you. The Greek reads Prisai, which is, to saw. The Commentators may be seen concerning this Allusion in the Greek, which seem to prove, that this Part of Daniel was never in Hebrew.
