Parasang

PARASANG. A sort of Measure or Length of Way, among the Persians. A Parasang had thirty Stadia or Furlongs, or three thousand seven hundred and fifty Paces, according to Herodotus1; or forty, or even sixty Stadia, according to Strabo n. Pliny observes2, that the Measure of a Parasang was not regular among the Persians. The Word Parasang is not to be read in Scripture, but it will be of use to know these sort of Measures, which are to be met with in old Authors.
