Nutts

NUTTS, a Fruit well known and very common. It is said in Exodus1, that the Branches of the Golden Candlestick were to be adorned with three Cups or Bowls in form of Nuts , and that between each Cup or Bowl there should be a Knop and a Flower. But the Hebrew Text reads, three Cups which produce Almonds, that is to say, as a Flower of an Almond-Tree, from the midst of which came forth the Branch of the Candlestick as the Fruit comes forth from the midst of the Flower. The only Passage in which mention is made of Nuts, is that in the Song of Solomon2. I went down into the Garden of Nuts, or of Nut-Trees.
