Nephi

NEPHI. This is the Name that several Writers give to that Place, where Nehemiah found the muddy Water, which was in the Pit where the holy Fire had been hidden, 2 Macc. i. 36. But Copies vary concerning the Word Nephi. The Syriack and Greek of the Roman Edition read Naphtai, the Alexandrian Manuscript, and other Greek Copies, read Nephtar.
