Neaman

NEAMAN, or Neeman, the same as Naaman. This Word signifies in general, a great Officer of a Prince’s Houshold. Literally it signifies the faithful, in which Sense it is sometimes taken in Scripture. It is said, for Example1, that Moses is the faithful Servant, the Neaman in the House of God. In the first Book of Samuel the Lord says he will raise a Neeman in his House; and quickly after all Israel knew, that Samuel was this faithful Servant, this Neeman. David was Neaman and Son-into Law King Saul. Job says, that the Lord when he pleases takes from the Neemans their Eloquence, and from old Men their Wisdom.
