Meuzal

Ezek. xxvii. 19.MEUZAL, or Mosel, a City mentioned by Ezekiel, whose Situation is unknown. The Hebrew of Ezekiel may be translated as the Vulgate has done, Dan & Græcia & Mosel; or Dan and Javan of Ozel or Usal. Bochart1 thinks that by Javan of Ozel or Uzal, are meant the Descendants of Javan, whose Habitation was at Usal, a City of Arabia. Instead of Javan the Seventy have read Jain, Wine; they read Asel or Asael, and not Mosel. The Syriack has Dan and Javan of Uzel; the Arabick, They brought to your Fairs Wine of Ail. The Chaldee, Dan and Javan brought you Merchandizes in Troops, &c. I suspect that some Alteration has been made in this Passage. Dan and Javan are too far distant from each other, to be thus brought together.
