Melothi

MELOTHI, a City of Cilicia, that was taken by Holofernes, Judith xi. 13. Vulg. Perhaps it’s the same as Mallos in Cilicia, upon the River Pyramus. The Inhabitants of Mallos, or the Mallotæ, revolted against Antiochus Epiphanes, because this Prince had bestowed their City upon one of his Concubines. Besides the Greek Copy of Judith makes no Mention of Melothi.
