Manaen

MANAEN, or Manahem, a Christian Prophet, and Foster-brother of Herod Antipas1. He was at Antioch with other Prophets, that is, Simon surnamed Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Barnabas and Saul: when the Holy Ghost said to ‘em, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the Work whereunto I have called them. Then after having fasted and prayed, they laid their Hands on them, and let them go. ‘Tis thought that Manaen was of the Number of the LXX Disciples. The Authors of the Latin Martyrologies2 put his Feast upon the 24th of May, and say that he died at Antioch. None of the Particulars of his Life are come to our Knowledge.
