Majuma

MAJUMA, or Majouma, was the Harbour of the City of Gaza in Palestine. The Emperor Constantine changed its Name into Constantia, because of his Son Constantius, and in Consideration of the firm Adherence of this City to the Christian Religion. Julian would have taken this Name from it, and ordered it to be called only the Harbour of Gaza; but under the following Emperors it was still called Majuma1, and even Constantia. I find no Mention made of Majuma in Scripture, tho’ often Mention is made of Gaza.
