Libnath

LIBNATH, a City in the Tribe of Asher. Joshua xix. 26. We believe it to be the whole Promontory, situated between Ecdippa and Tyre. Plin. l. v. c. 19. The Hebrew Reading, instead of Sihor & Labaneth, in the Vulgate is Shicor-Libenath. Which induces us to think, that these two Words denote the same Place, and that Shichor is the Name of a Rivulet; as if it were said: And the Rivulet of foul Water which is upon the white Promontory.
