Lasha

LASHA. Moses describing the Limits of the Land of Canaan says, that it reaches Southward as far as Lasha. The Chaldee and Saint Jerom think Lasha to be the same as Callirhoe, which lies Northward of the Dead Sea, and discharges itself into it. But it is much more natural to understand it of the City of Lasha, Lusa, or Elusa, which was at pretty near an equal Distance between the Dead Sea, and the Red Sea. Ptolemy mentions this City of Lusa, and so do Josephus, Joseph. Antiq. l. xiv. c. 2.and Stephens the Geographer.
