This young Prince falling ill of a languishing disease,1 Jonadab asked the cause of it: Amnon declared to him in confidence, that he had a very violent passion for his sister Tamar, born of David, but by another mother. Jonadab said to him, keep your bed and feign yourself sick, and when the King your father comes to visit you, desire him to send your sister Tamar to prepare something for you, which you may receive from her hands. Amnon followed this wicked advice, and ravished Tamar, for which reason Absalom Tamar’s brother, killed Amnon2, and brought great affliction upon the whole royal family.
