JABAL, the son of Lamech and Adah, was the Father of those who lodge under Gen.iv. 20.tents, and shepherds; that is to say, he was as it were the Prince and Institutor of those, who, like the Arabian Scenites and Nomades, live under tents in the fields, and are by trade shepherds. The word Father is taken often for Master, Head, or Institutor.
