Iscarioth

ISCARIOTH: Eusebius and S. Jerom speak of the village Iscarioth in the tribe of Ephraim, where the traytor Judas is said to have been born. Others are of opinion, that he was of the tribe of Issachar, and that Iscariothes is put for Issachariothes; lastly, some will have it, that he was of Carioth or Kerioth in the tribe of Judah. See Joshua xv. 25.
