HOSANNA, or rather Hosa-na, is an Salva quæso.Hebrew word which signifies, Save, I beseech you. It is a form of blessing, or wishing one well. Thus at our Saviour’s entrance into Jerusalem, when the people cried Hosanna filio David, their meaning was, Lord preserve this Son of David; heap favours and blessings on him.
