Hazerim

HAZERIM, Hazeroth, Hazor, Azerothaim. These names all signify the same thing, and are often put before the names of places. Hazer or Chazer signifies a porch or dwelling. There is a town called Hazor in Arabia-Petræa, which in all probability is the same as Hazerim, the ancient habitation of the Hivites, before they were driven away by the Caphtorims, or inhabitans of the Isle of Crete, who settled in Palestine. It is likewise, according to all appearances, the same as Hazeroth, where the Hebrews incamped in their journey through the wilderness. Num. xi. 34. xiii. 1. xxxii. 1.
