Hammoth-Dor

HAMMOTH-DOR, a city belonging to the Levites, in the Tribe of Naphtali. A cession was made of it to the Family of Gershom. See Joshua xix. 35. xxi. 32. It is the same perhaps as Hamath or Chamath belonging to the same Tribe, Joshua xix. 3. which is believed to be Tiberias. The name of Hamath or Chamath is given generally to places, where there are Baths of hot water. See HAMATH.
