Dibon

DIBON, a City given to the Tribe of Gad by Moses, and afterwards yielded up to that of Reuben. Eusebius says, that Dibon was a large town upon the river Arnon. It is probably the same as Dibon-Gad, Numb. xxxiii. 45. which was one of the incampments of the Hebrews under Moses. St. Jerom says, that in his time it was still called indifferently Dibon or Dimon, by reason of the resemblance of the letters.
