Daberath

Josh. xix. 12.DABERATH. Joshua speaks of Daberath a town belonging to the Tribe of Zebulun, or at least in the confines of this Tribe. He shews elsewhere very clearly, that Josh. xxi. 38.it is in the Tribe of Issachar. The Tribe of Issachar made a cession of this town to the 1 Chr. vi. 72.Levites for their habitation. Josephus speaks of it in several places, under the name of Joseph. de Bello, L. 2. c. 26. & de vita sua. p. 1023.Dabaritta, or Darabitta, situated in the great plain at the extremity of Galilee and Samaria. It is perhaps the same as Dabira, which St. Jerom places towards mount Tabor, in the canton of Diocæsarea. Maundrell speaks of Debora at the foot of mount Tabor.
