Chytropodes

Levit. xi. 35.CHYTROPODES, Skillets or Pots. We meet with this term in Leviticus xi. 25. where God commands the earthen Pots to be broken, into which any unclean thing should fall. The Hebrew word Kiraim, which S. Jerom has translated Pots, is understood by others to mean an Hearth, or Oven, a Cistern or Bason to wash ones feet in. Kiraïm is of the dual number, and signifies a vessel composed of two pieces.
