1 Cor. i. 11. Ab his qui sunt Chloes ὑπὸ τῶν Χλόης.CHLOE, a Woman of Corinth, and a Christian: She gave S. Paul notice of the divisions which were then reigning at Corinth, upon the account of Cephas, Apollos and himself. See 1 Cor. i. 11. Chloe did not herself write to Paul; but procured some of her family to do this for her. r S. Chrysostom conjectures, that she made use of Stephanus, Fortunatus and Achaicus, who were the first fruits of Achaia. Some have taken Chloe for a Man; but it is the name of a Woman. Pausanias gives Ceres the firname of Chloë.
