Celeusma

CELEUSMA. This word is to be met with in three places of Jeremiah. It is used Jer. xxv. 20. xlviii. 33. li. 14.to signify the joyful Acclamations of Vintagers, and in proportion for the shouts of Conquerors, who insult the conquered. Jeremiah seems to mean by it an Hymn after Victory. The Greek word Keleusma literally signifies the noise of Mariners. The Hebrew Heidad is used properly of Vintagers, who cry hedad, hedad, hedad.
