Caphar-Barucha

CAPHAR-BARUCHA, that is to say, the Village of Blessings, in the Tribe of Judah. S. Jerom1 says, that S. Paula being at this place, remembred Lot’s Cave, and saw the place where formerly Sodom and Gomorrha stood. It is the opinion of some, that the Patriarch Abraham waited so far on the Angels, whom he had had the honour to receive, and who were going to Sodom. Epiphanius2 fixes this place at three miles distance from Hebron.
