Calneh

CALNEH, a City in the land of Shinaar, built by Nimrod, and the seat formerly of his Empire, being one of the principal Genes. x. 10. If. x. 9. Ezek. xxvii. 23.Cities in it. We believe it to be the same as Calno mentioned in Isaiah, and Canneh in Ezekiel. It must have been situated in Mesopotamia, since these Prophets join it with Haran, Eden, Assyria, and Chilmad, which carried on a trade with Tyre.
