Assumption (II)

II. Assumption of Moses1 an apocryphal Book intitled in Hebrew, Petirath Mosé2, and in Greek, Analepsis Moysi3. This Book contains the history of the Death of Moses, and the conveyance of his Soul to Paradise. It is believed that the particular of Michael’s ingaging with the Devil about the Body of Moses, which is mentioned in the Epistle of S. Jude, is taken from this work. We have treated at large of it in a Dissertation on the death and burial of Moses, inserted in the last volume of our Comment.
