Archippus

ARCHIPPUS, whom St. Paul speaks of to the Colossians. Some are of opinion, that Archippus was Bishop of Colosse. Others will have it, that he was Priest only, or Deacon of this Church. The Author of the Apostolical Constitutions maintains1, that he was Bishop of Laodicea in Phrygia. The Greeks observe his Festival upon the 22d of November; and say that he suffered Martyrdom at Colosse, in the reign of Nero. The Latins honour him upon the 20th of March.
