Apamea

APAMEA, a City of Syria, lying upon the Orontes. It was built, as is believed, by Seleucus I. King of Syria; or by his Son Antiochus Soter, in honour of Queen Apamea, the Wife of Seleucus, and Mother of Antiochus. It is probably the same with Shepham, a City of Syria, whereof there is Numb. xxxiv. 10, 11.mention sometimes in the Scripture.
