AMMAN, Ammanites. See AMMON, AMMONITES. The Capital of the Ammonites, called in Scripture Rabbath-Ammon, and in profane Authors Philadelphia, is likewise sometimes called Amman, and the Country of the Ammanites, Ammanitis.
