Amana

AMANA, a Mountain mentioned in Cant. iv. 8.Solomon’s Song. Some are of opinion that this is mount Amanus in Cilicia. St. Jerom1 and the Rabbins2 make the land of Israel to extend Northward as far as this Mountain; and in Solomon’s time the dominion of the Hebrews did extend so far. Mount Amanus separates Syria from Cilicia, and reaches from the Mediterranean to the Euphrates.
