Achsah

ACHSAH, the Daughter of Caleb, who was promised by her Father to him, who should take Kirjath-sepher, which, upon the division, was fallen to his Lot. Othniel Ch. xv. 16,17,&c.having taken it, married Achsah. After the Wedding, while they were conducting her in a ceremonious manner to her Husband’s house, Othniel persuaded her to ask her Father Caleb for a field that was well watered: She therefore lighted off her ass, and threw herself at her Father’s feet, who desiring to know what she would have, she answer’d, Father, thou hast given me a South-land, give me also Springs of water. And he gave her the upper Springs and the nether Springs, or a field water’d with good Springs as well as with the Dews and Rains.
